Incorporating New Designs to Your Mantelpiece

A family’s artwork is what makes a house, their home. Beyond the structure, furniture, and colors in the décor, the artwork adds the personal touch which creates a true sense of identity and uniqueness. Like family photos, artwork provides an intimate representation of a family.

The fireplace mantel is a prominent space in every home, and is a great opportunity to showcase art. Since I have been weaving, I have done all types of sculptures for homes to bring natural fibers and textures into home décor. The creation of fireplace mantel sculptures adds a unique flair and focal point for  any room in your home.

A Dynamic Aesthetic

Many of my clients share the same appreciation for rustic and natural materials in their artwork and furniture. They also share a similar appreciation of elegance and style. Elegant décor and rustic style is somewhat of an unlikely combination, but the goal of my artwork is to bridge this gap. Inspired by the beauty of nature, my sculptures, especially my fireplace mantel pieces, are designed with the luxury home in mind.

These fireplace mantel sculptures, are designed to be the focal point of your space, as I often work with clients on commission. I utilize many different weaving techniques and materials, so these pieces are designed with your space in mind. The structural base of these pieces is often a mountain laurel branch, in which many hand-woven baskets are nestled. I color and seal my baskets with encaustic wax, and then I will weave in other harvested materials such as grapevine or mimosa bark.

Incorporating unique shapes and textures into the décor of your home is a wonderful way to complement the natural, more rustic patterns and influences in your home. It will also provide a beautiful focal point for anyone who visits your home, especially if we incorporate lighting into your mantel sculpture!
