A Touch of Rustic

My sculptural baskets combine a myriad of natural materials and natural inspirations. Employing kudzu vine, beeswax, and copper leaves, these sculptures bring a rustic, yet modern accent to any space.
At first glance, some of my sculptures may appear to rustic to appear amongst the clean lines and designs of the contemporary home, but many of my sculptures have unique and contemporary patterns that make them fit right in with modern decor and rustic mountain homes, alike.

Adding just a little touch of modern rustic decor into your space is neat way to diversify the style of your home. Imagine of the pieces below in your home. A random-weave sphere made of copper, barks and vines would be a beautiful centerpiece for a table in a foyer or entry.
Matt Tommey of the River Art's District created this fine contemporary basket out of grapevine, random weave, vines and bark.

A newer style I have experimented with is using paper clay and natural fibers to make a mixture to cover the kudzu on my baskets. Creating a nest-like appearance, these baskets are a brighter focal point for the table and wall and go great with contemporary decor of the home. I scorch the rim of these baskets which creates a high contrast color scheme for these pieces.
